I’m Lexus. I’m twenty-eight, I live in Mooresville, North Carolina, and I run a scratch kitchen with a curious one-year-old underfoot. The Pantry Practice is the system I built to make from-scratch cooking fit inside a one-income household, a real work schedule, and an actual life. The recipes here are the ones I cook on a Tuesday — bread from a Dutch oven, broth simmered from freezer-bag scraps, the family recipes I’m writing down before they disappear with the people who taught them to me. I’ve been cooking from scratch for over a decade. I learned from my grandmothers, my aunts, and a lot of stained cookbooks. Everything published here has been tested in my own kitchen, photographed in my own light, and earned a place in our weekly rotation before it earned a place on the site.
